What is a penalty charge notice?
A Penalty Charge Notice (PCN) - commonly called a 'parking
ticket' - is issued when a driver parks a vehicle in contravention
of the parking regulations.
The council uses Civil Enforcement Officers (CEOs) - formerly
known as Parking Attendants - to issue
PCNs
. CEOs patrol the
streets of Redbridge seven days per week and ensure that
parking controls are observed and enforced in a fair, accurate and
consistent manner. They play a vital role in keeping traffic
moving.
How much is a penalty charge notice?
The charges for
PCNs
are not set by individual councils, but by a London-wide body
called London Councils.
From 1st July 2007 all London Boroughs adopted a system of
'differential parking penalties'. Parking contraventions that
are considered to be more serious attract a higher charge (£100 or
£120 depending on the location), and parking contraventions that
are considered to be less serious attract a lower charge (£80 or
£60 depending on the location).
If payment is received within 14 days from the date of issue of
the
PCN
, the fine is
then reduced by 50%.
