The Road Safety Team believe in starting young!
The Team have a number of Road Safety Sessions suitable for the very young in the borough’s Nurseries, Playgroups and Kindergartens.

Our role play sessions are very popular, where children are taught to hold hands when out walking and crossing the road.  A miniature road is laid out, complete with zebra crossing and children are taught to stop, look and listen when crossing the road.  Children can dress up as a police officer, a lollipop person and various items of traffic and learn through play in this interactive session.

An alternative session focuses on child seats and seat belt wearing.  The children follow a large picture book story entitled “Teddy Takes a Tumble” where poor Teddy does indeed take a tumble because he is not sitting in his car seat!  The children can hold Teddy and his cat and look at his tiny car seat.

For further information, to book one of the above sessions for your nursery or playgroup or for advice on Road Safety for the under-fives, please contact Helen Cray on 020 8708 3577.
