In London, powered two wheeler riders
represent a disproportionately large number of casualties –
while representing under 3% of road traffic accidents,
and they account for nearly 22% of deaths and serious
injuries.
The Road Safety Team support a scheme called
BikeSafe-London. Run
by service Police motorcyclists, the scheme is for all
motorcyclists, moped and scooter riders and the aim is to improve
riding skills and reduce the number of casualties for this group of
road users.
Skills days for riders of small capacity
motorcycles, scooters and mopeds are also run under a scheme
called
ScooterSafe-London.
