Using the interactive map

The Redbridge i interactive map allows you to view an online map of your local area and surrounding districts.

You can also watch our help video to see for yourself how to use the interactive map. Warning - this is a large file and may take several minutes to download.  If you prefer, the help video has been split into four smaller parts:

  1. Introduction to the map
  2. Changing the map view
  3. Searching the map
  4. Displaying map layers

Moving around the mapRedbridge i map controls

If you are a registered, logged in user, the house icon represents your location.

You can quickly move around the map by dragging with your mouse.

Alternatively you can use the Pan up, Pan down, Pan left and Pan right buttons located in the top left corner of the map.

You can also use the slider or the Zoom in and Zoom out buttons to alter the scale of the map.

Satellite and Hybrid views

If you like, you can also access a satellite image of the viewed location. You can zoom in on this image for a closer look at the terrain, zoom out for a broader perspective, or pan in any direction.

If you simply can't decide between viewing maps or satellite imagery, you can choose the hybrid view, which superimposes map data, including streets, street names, and landmarks, over the satellite images.

To access these views, click the Satellite or Hybrid buttons in the top right corner of the map. Click the Map button to return to the normal map only view.

Searching the map

To find a particular location you can search for it.

  1. Enter a term in the search box above the map. This could be a building name, street, district or post code, in fact any part of an address.
  2. Click the Search button to perform the search.
  3. Click the required location on the list of matching addresses.  The map will centre on the selected location.

Displaying services

To the left of the main map you will find a Map layers side bar.  You can use this to display Redbridge based services and organisations on the map.

  1. Click the category of service you wish to display.
  2. The category will expand and display a list of service types.  Click the service type you wish to display.
  3. The selected services are displayed on the map and a new side bar listing these locations is also displayed.
  4. For more details about a particular location you can either click its place marker on the map, or click the corresponding entry on the side bar.
  5. To remove the additional side bar and clear all place markers from the map, click the close button in the top right hand corner of the side bar.

More facilities

Clicking a point on the map will open an Options window.  You can use this to do the following:

  • The Info tab allows to to request directions either to or from your registered location (or from Ilford town centre if you are no logged in) to the point you have clicked.
  • The Report it tab allows you to report an incident at the location you have clicked directly to us.
