Helping the homelessSupporting People is a Government programme, introduced in April 2003, which requires Local Authorities to fund, monitor and review housing-related support services for vulnerable adults.

The Supporting People team is lead by Preeti Sheth.

The Redbridge Supporting People Five-Year Strategy (PDF 1.49m) has now been written following consultation with key partners, commissioners, service providers and service users.  There is also an Annual Review Report (PDF 121k) which updates the needs analysis set out in the strategy.  The Strategy is also available in an easy to read version (PDF 822k).

Supporting People is a working partnership of local council, PCT , Probation, service users and support agencies.

There are currently 24 support providers in Redbridge managing 71 support schemes which include, for example, sheltered schemes, a night shelter and a women's refuge, as well as floating support services to individuals in their own homes.  We have recently commissioned some new services.

Our Glossary (PDF 51k) contains Supporting People terms, which you may find useful.

We aim to give tenants and service users more influence over their support services, through consultation feedback opportunities.

Your compliments and complaints are important to us, to improve and develop our services.

If you wish to discuss any aspect of Supporting People please contact the Redbridge Supporting People team.
