Getting older brings many advantages, but sometimes
problems too. Community Care aims to help you in both regards,
wherever possible.
Advantages include more leisure time to spend with family and
friends and to enjoy favourite activities. Redbridge's
green spaces, arts and entertainment events and sports
amenities offer plenty to do and our Healthy
Lifestyles programmes make active exercise a particular
pleasure. An extra bonus for our residents aged 60
or above, is the freedom pass which
allows free travel on London public transport services.
You may need a different kind of help from us, to support you in
remaining independent at home for instance. Redbridge Care provide community meals, practical help in your home and assistance with personal
care and general help with getting about.
We have day care centres where we
provide activities and meals, and we also offer residential or
nursing home care where appropriate. There is special support
for people suffering from dementia or
have a disability.
The local Pension
Service holds advice surgeries about social security benefits
for older people at the Payments and
Benefits reception on:
- Tuesdays from 9.30am to 3.30pm
- Thursdays from 9.30am to 12.00pm
The Community Care Advice Centre
offers you help, advice and the opportunity to discuss your
situation or that of someone you care for, and to find out what we
can provide for you.
We also recognise the vital importance of those who are carers, and offer support for them too,
including providing respite care.
FirstStop Care Advice
is an independent service offering information and advice
on care, housing and financial options for older people and
their carers.
