Safeguarding Adults Campaign

Redbridge Community Care Services are currently running an awareness campaign for adult abuse across the borough in conjunction with World Elder Abuse Awareness Day.

Redbridge Adult Social Services and partner organisations are working to make life safer for adults who are most at risk of being abused, neglected or exploited.

Supporting the vulnerableYou can contribute to this work by being aware that abuse can happen. Some people are more vulnerable than others, and you can make a difference by:

  • asking what you can do to help
  • reporting any concerns you have

People who are most vulnerable are those who have a disability or illness, and may be unable to look after themselves or protect themselves from being harmed.

Abuse can happen to anyone, anywhere, and can include emotional, physical, financial or sexual abuse, as well as neglect and discrimination.

You should talk to someone you can trust if:

  • you are concerned that someone you know may be being abused
  • you yourself look after someone and at times get close to hurting that person
  • you are being abused

Report concerns to Social Services:

  • 020 8708 7333 (Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm)
  • 020 8554 5000 (Monday to Friday 8am-8pm; Saturday 9am-1pm. Only call outside of these hours if it is an emergency)

Report concerns of a crime to the Police on 020 8478 1123. In an emergency call 999.

There are a number of local and national organisations you might want to talk to.
