FAQ for Local Safeguarding Children Board | Contact for Local Safeguarding Children Board

Local Safeguarding Children Boards (LSCBs) came into existence following the death of Victoria Climbie and the subsequent inquiry and report by Lord Laming in 2003.

The Children Act 2004 required each local authority throughout England Wales to establish a LSCB. The Act places specific obligations on a range of agencies to co-operate in the operation of  LSCBs in ensuring the safeguarding and promotion of children's welfare and wellbeing by working together in partnership.Smiling child

The work of LSCBs is part of the wider context of Children's Trust arrangements that aim to improve the overall wellbeing of all children in the local area as defined in the Government's "Every Child Matters" agenda:

  • be healthy
  • staying safe
  • enjoy and achieve
  • make a positive contribution
  • achieve economic well being.
