FAQ for Carers | Contact for Carers

Many people with caring responsibilities do not identify themselves as carers.

If you provide help and support to a partner or spouse, child, relative, friend or neighbour, who due to a disability, illness or frailty cannot manage in the community without help, then you are a carer. The support which carers provide is unpaid. Carers can be of any age and may or may not live with the person they care for.

There are six million carers in the UK. In Redbridge there are 30,000 carers.  If you care for an adult (18 and over) and would like to know how to get support to help you cope with your caring responsibilities, or help for the person you are caring for, please contact the Community Care Advice Centre or download a copy of the Carers Information Leaflet (PDF 1.12 MB) to find out how to request a carer's assessment and support.

If you are a parent/carer caring for a child and need support, please visit the Children's Trust pages for more information.

Redbridge Carers Support Service provides a range of support services to carers. Visit their website to find out more.
