Ethnic Monitoring

FAQ for Ethnic Monitoring | Contact for Ethnic Monitoring

As part of the statutory obligation outlined in the Race Relations Act all Councils must publish the results of their ethnic monitoring of staff in the nine following areas:

  • Applicants for jobs
  • Current staff
  • Applicants for training
  • Applicants for promotion
  • Staff who receive training
  • Staff who benefit or suffer disadvantage from performance appraisal
  • Staff who are involved in grievances
  • Staff who have disciplinary action taken against them
  • Staff who leave their jobs with the authority

The 2001 Census provides the most comprehensive and reliable data about the population. We have therefore used the same ethnic categories as those used in the Census to collect information about the ethnic background of our staff.

This information will be published annually and will include an analysis of trends, patterns, and our plans to address any problems that are highlighted. The annual reports for Redbridge Social Services are available below.
