Free or discounted services for pensioners

• Travel with Freedom pass (over 60s)
• TV licence (over 74s)
• Prescriptions (over 60s). This will be given to you at the doctors when you get a prescription.
• NHS Eye tests. Most opticians give free eye tests (paid by the NHS) for over 60s.  You can find out more information on the NHS web pages.
• Free NHS dental care for those receiving pension credit  (criteria needs to be met)
• Lifeline alarm (free for over 80s) -subject to criteria for others 
• Smoke alarm fitted and home fire safety advice. Provided by the London Fire Brigade call 0800 0 28 44 28 
• Handy person scheme - Subject to Criteria
• Home improvement scheme
• council's debt advice (0208 708 4185 to make an appointment)

Keeping warm

• Winter fuel allowance (60-79 year olds get £250 and 80 year olds and above get £400) everyone should receive this.  If you're not then you will need to apply for the winter fuel allowance
