The Drug and Alcohol Action Team, usually known as the
DAAT
, is managed
by Shaheen Mughal.
The Drug and Alcohol Action Team is not a direct service
provider of services but plans, commissions and monitors services
to deliver the following four key elements of the
National Drugs
Strategy:
- protecting communities through tackling drug supply,
drug-related crime and anti-social behaviour
- preventing harm to children, young people and families affected
by drug misuse
- delivering new approaches to drug treatment and social
re-integration
- public information campaigns, communications and community
engagement
Services funded through the Drug and Alcohol Action Team
include:
- Drug and alcohol prevention work in schools
- Specialist drugs workers in the Youth Offending Team, the
Children's Trust and a major service provider, Redbridge Drug and
Alcohol Services
- Detoxification services for adults and young people
- Residential and day treatment programmes for adults and young
people
- Support and advice services for families affected by drug and
alcohol misuse
- Services targeted at offenders with drug-related problems
The Drug and Alcohol Action Team is currently exceeding its
headline targets for getting drug users to enter and stay in
treatment programmes. We want to build on that by delivering more
services locally, and making those services easily accessible.
If you have any queries you can contact the Redbridge
DAAT

The annual Drug Treatment Plans, for adults and young people,
provide a detailed account of the services currently provided
through the Drug and Alcohol Action Team, and the targets for
future work.

tackling drug misuse on the Home Office website.
