The Cranbrook ward By-Election was held on 10 July 2008 following the death of Councillor Charles Elliman.

The results were as follows:

• Matthew Chaudhary - Conservative Party
  Votes cast: 1625 - Elected
  
• Helen Angela Duffett - Liberal Democrats Party
  Votes cast: 318
  
• Barbara White - Labour Party
  Votes cast: 729
  
• Anthony Young - British National Party 
  Votes cast: 37

The turnout for the by-election was 30.5%
