The Healthy Lifestyles Programme of weekly activities is designed to increase the number of people taking part in sport or physical activity. It particularly targets:

Tai Chi

  • young people
  • the over 50's
  • women
  • ethnic minorities

The aim is to improve participants' social and interaction skills, develop their health and fitness and create an environment where people can learn and enjoy new sporting abilities.

Activities range from:

  • yoga to basketball
  • short-mat bowls to keep fit classes
  • line dance to badminton

As from September 2007, a new Belly Dancing class was introduced and takes place on a Monday lunchtime between 1pm-2pm at the Vine Church, 2 minutes from Ilford Town Centre.

There is also a "Walk to Health" group, enjoying two weekly walks in local parks.

The programme currently caters for more than 1200 people each month.

For more information we have a comprehensive sports directory with listings of local clubs and amenities or for a list of the current programme details see weekly activities page.
