Public Art Programme
Redbridge is in the process of an exciting new era for public
art. As widespread regeneration work takes place, the council is
determined to improve public art in Redbridge as it prepares for
the 2012 Olympics.
'Expressions of Interests' from artists, crafts persons and
designers have been requested to establish a register of creative
talent and skills which will contribute to the development of
Redbridge's public art programme.
The investment of art in the public realm is intended to enhance
the built and natural environment for the whole community. By
linking artists with developers the London Borough of Redbridge
hope to improve urban design and bring high quality artistic
experiences into everyday life. This might mean:
- the addition of sculptures to public places
- lighting schemes designed by artists
- temporary displays of art through digital projection.
