Telling us about changes

FAQ for Telling us about changes | Contact for Telling us about changes

You need to make sure you report changes in your circumstances to us straight away, or at least within one month of the date of change, otherwise you may lose benefit. A change that reduces your amount of benefit may lead to an overpayment, which we will ask you to pay back.

You also need to provide any evidence or information that we ask for within 4 weeks of our request

You need to tell us about:

  • if you or your partner stop receiving Income Support or Jobseekers Allowance
  • any changes in your income or capital
  • if someone moves into or out of your home
  • any of your children leave school
  • if you or your partner are in hospital for more than 52 weeks
  • if any non-dependants are in hospital for more than 52 weeks
  • changes in your non-dependants circumstances
  • changes in the rent that you pay (private tenants only)
  • if you temporally leave your home
  • if you move home

If you are not sure what changes need to be reported, please tell us anyway.
