Gants Hill District Centre Area Action Plan
The preparation of an Area Action
Plan for the Gants Hill District Centre (PDF,
8mb) has reached a significant milestone with the
submission of the document to the Secretary of State on 11 July
2008.
Associated with the submission of the document was a
six-week consultation process, which ran from 11 July to 22
August 2008. All comments and objections received during the
consultation period have been passed to the independent
inspector for consideration as part of an independent examination
process. The Area Action Plan will be assessed in an Examination in Public (EiP) by an Independent
Inspector appointed by the Secretary of State. The examination
pages are hosted by, but independent of the London Borough of
Redbridge.
After the Examination the Inspector will report to the Council
advising on whether any changes are needed. The Council will then
be able to adopt the Area Action Plan, including any changes made
by the Inspector. It is anticipated that this will occur in mid
2009.
A Waste Strategy for East London
The four East London Waste Authority (ELWA) boroughs
of Newham, Barking & Dagenham,
Havering and Redbridge are preparing a
Joint Waste DPD for East London. The purpose of the Joint
Waste DPD is to set out a planning strategy to 2020 for
sustainable waste management which enables the
adequate provision of waste management facilities (including
disposal) in appropriate locations for municipal, commercial &
industrial, construction & demolition and hazardous wastes.
You can view the Preferred
Options Report for the Joint Waste DPD (PDF,
652kb) and its related documents including the
Sustainability Appraisal on Newham's website using the links
provided. These documents are also available for public inspection
at the Council's One Stop Shop and all Borough libraries.
A six week consultation was undertaken during April and May
2007. A summary of responses can be found here in due
course.
A finalised document will then be prepared for submission to the
Secretary of State. This is expected to occur in March
2009. At that stage the document will be published for a
further six weeks providing an opportunity to comment on the
report. Comments will be passed on to the planning inspector
appointed to conduct a public inquiry into the submission
document. Following publication of the Inspector's binding
report, it is anticipated that the Join Waste DPD will be
formally adopted by the Council in June 2010.
