Residential Precincts are estates of special character worthy of conservation but not satisfying the stricter legal tests applied to Conservation Areas.

There are now nine Residential Precincts in Redbridge:

1. Monkhams
2. Perth Road
3. Cathedral Estate
4. Mayfair Gardens
5. Empress Avenue
6. Valentines
7. North Cranbrook Park
8. Mayfield
9. Laings Estate

The designation of a Residential Precinct does not give rise to any changes in legal status under the Planning Acts but the Council has adopted policies within its Local Development Framework for the preservation of its Residential Precincts. These polices are a material consideration for any developments requiring planning permission.
