Welcome to the
pollution management area of the site. The Pollution team is
primarily responsible for the administration and enforcement of
the:
- Environmental Protection Act 1990
- Environment Act 1995
- Control of Pollution Act 1974
- Clean Air Acts.
These are concerned with pollution to land, air and, in some cases,
water.
In line with the Government's Air Quality Strategy (
AQS
), the team is currently
monitoring the quality of air in Redbridge. We are also
completing a 3rd stage review and assessment of Air Quality in the
Borough. The findings of the assessment will help to provide
the information required to formulate the strategy for improving
local air quality.
The team is also charged with the responsibility for developing
the Redbridge
Strategy for the identification of Contaminated Land.
This is a national requirement and every council in the UK is
currently looking at this issue. A draft Strategy was available for
consultation during October and November 2001. This
consultation period has now closed.
The authority is also responsible for monitoring construction
activities to minimise pollution caused by noise, dust and other
nuisances. If you have any queries or comments on this
service, please complete the
