Recycling bank

There are over 60 public recycling sites (bring banks)across the borough, making it easy for everyone to recycle. All of the recycling sites in Redbridge are emptied by Shanks East London. If you are experiencing problems with a site, please contact Shanks East London directly.

Chigwell Road reuse and recycling centre will accept a wider range of recyclable materials than your local bring bank.

Please click on one of the areas from the list below for details of your nearest recycling site:

Alternatively, an interactive map is now accessible via the home page. Select i map at the top of the home page, then Council Services and Recycling Points.

Tetra Pak Recycling

Juice and drink cartons (also known as Tetra Pak) can be recycled at some of these sites.

‘Tetra Paks’ are made of between 75-90% paper, with a covering of plastic and an aluminium layer. This means that they must undergo a separation process before any of the materials can be recycled. That is why local authorities within many areas of the UK have only traditionally collected a few materials such as paper, aluminium cans and glass for recycling. This is now changing, and Tetra Pak is committed to helping interested local authorities set up carton collection schemes in their area.

There are five Tetra Pak recycling points in Redbridge:

  • Tesco, Charlie Brown roundabout, Woodford Bridge, IG8 8GE
  • Tesco, Barkingside, IG6 1HY
  • Sainsburys, Newbury Park, IG6 1BH
  • Sainsburys, Ilford, IG2 7SH
  • Chigwell Road RRC, IG8 8PQ

Please remember that Tetra Pak cannot be recycled in your kerbside box.
