About the School

Ray Lodge is a County Co-educational day school, situated in Snakes Lane East, Woodford Green, Essex in the London Borough of Redbridge.

Although the building dates from 1903, it has benefited from rewiring and redecoration.  There are also a number of new buildings.

A Nursery Unit was opened in September 1990 which caters for the needs of children prior to joining the school.  In September 1997 the former Infant and Junior Schools amalgamated to create a new Primary School.

There are approximately 615 children on roll and their ages range from four to eleven years old.

The children are taught in mixed ability classes, with each class having its own room and teacher.  Most of the children's day is spent within their own classroom.  There are no classes above 30 pupils in line with Government directives.

The 78 Nursery children receive part time education in either the morning or afternoon sessions.  There is a purpose-built canteen.  Meals are prepared on site in the school kitchen, which also supplies neighbouring schools.  The school serves a large and varied catchment area, and most of the pupils on roll come from within the catchment area.
