About the School

John Bramston Primary School is situated in the north of the Borough.  In January 2005 there were 311 full time children and 35 part time children in Nursery.  Children are admitted to our Nursery from the age of 3 years.

"The school takes every opportunity to build pupils' self esteem and to help them understand their community responsibilities ... their spiritual, moral and cultural development is good and their social development is very good." (Not our words, but the words of our recent Ofsted inspection report).

At John Bramston Primary School we believe strongly in social inclusion and our school is adapted for wheelchair use.

The school has a large playground and playing field.  We have a sporting tradition going back many years and while competitive success may vary from year to year, the enthusiasm remains constant.  Extra curricular activities cover a wide range of interests and we encourage children to accept responsibility, show initiative and become independent learners.

Homework is seen not just as a means for children to reinforce lessons learnt in school, but also as an opportunity for children to explore their own interests and devise their own projects.  We believe that parental involvement in homework is an ideal way for parents to learn about their own child's progress throughout the year.
