About the School

Gilbert Colvin is a two form entry primary and nursery school to which children between the ages of 3 and 11 are admitted in accordance with the Borough's admissions policy.

The building is a single storey structure set in mature grounds which incorporates a main school, large sports field and sports pavilion.

A self-contained purpose built nursery was constructed on the site in 1992.  The Nursery has its own safety surface playground and conservation area, which are totally enclosed.  The 52 nursery children receive part-time education in either the morning or afternoon session.

There are approximately 420 children on roll in the main school.  They are accommodated in 14 mixed ability classes. i.e. two parallel classes per year group.  Each class has its own room teacher with whom they spend most of the working day.  However there may be specialist teachers for some activities.
