About the School
Gearies Infants' School is a county infant school housed in a
single storey building built in 1929. It shares the site with
Gearies Junior School, to which it is physically connected.
The purpose built Nursery unit was opened in 1997 and is
situated adjacent to the school in its own garden. There are
3 classes in each year group, with a class limit of 30.
Gearies Infant School has a long tradition of high
standards. Our pupils are noted for their good behaviour and
academic success. Such success has only been achieved through
a close partnership between home and school.
The school serves a multi-cultural community. This is
reflected in the school's curriculum, resources and displays.
It is important that every child is treated with equality and
respect.
Learning is fun and exciting. Everyone is encouraged to
share this outlook. It is important that the school is a
happy place for everyone to work in.
Success in learning is taken just as seriously. All of the
children are helped and encouraged to achieve their full potential
in every aspect of the school curriculum. Through early
success and praise, it is hoped that children will become
enthusiastic life long learners.
The school's aims are to:
- help children develop lively and enquiring minds
- help children understand the world they live in
- help children acquire knowledge and skills
- enable children to communicate effectively
- encourage tolerance and respect for others
- work and live in harmony with others
The whole of the school's community strives to achieve our aims
and work together to raise standards.
