About the School
Clore Tikva is a voluntary aided nursery, infant and junior
school for children between the ages of three and eleven. The
modern premises, completed in the summer of 2000, occupy an
extensive and conveniently located site in the northern part of the
densely populated borough of Redbridge, close to the centre of
Barkingside. The total complement of pupils, including those
attending the nursery, is in the region of 450.
Clore Tikva is a Jewish school (the name is derived from the
philanthropic Clore foundation that supplied part of the original
funding, and Tikva the Hebrew word for hope). The school has a
pluralist outlook that is reflected in the school's admissions
policy and forms an integral part of the school's ethos
statement.
The school nurtures a love for learning where each pupil is seen
as an individual and where children are motivated to develop
through rewarding and positive experiences. Children are encouraged
to acquire, at an early age, an awareness of self-worth,
responsibility to others and to themselves, to be ready to take
decisions and to understand the meaning of independence.
Parents are an integral part of a partnership with the school in
their child's education.
The school provides a warm, caring environment, where
relationships are based on mutual respect and support. We strive to
build a caring community where everyone feels valued and
involved.
The school follows the National Curriculum,
DCSF
and Local Authority guidelines, including National Literacy and
Numeracy Strategies. As well as dedicated lessons, Jewish Studies
and Hebrew are also integrated into the main curriculum, in line
with our ethos.
Early introduction to computer skills, the internet and e-mail
are encouraged with two computers in each classroom, interactive
white boards and a special computer suite.
Extra curricular activities include Israeli dancing, football,
netball, violin, cello and recorder tuition, school choir and clubs
for textiles, computer, drama and chess. There is also a Breakfast
Club, Lunchtime Club and After School Club.
