About the School

Cleveland Junior is a large (4 form of entry) Junior School situated in the south of the Borough of Redbridge.

The school is friendly and supportive and serves a highly multi-cultural community.

The school building is Victorian and has been extensively renovated.  An ICT Suite has been built in the basement.  The school is very well maintained and resourced.

Planning takes place in year group teams and is co-ordinated by the Year Leader.

Classes are grouped by mixed ability but are split into five sets for the Numeracy Hour each day from Year 4.

We have a significant number of children from refugee families and have a high proportion of children (87%) in school who speak English as an additional language.  Approximately 29% of the children at the school are entitled to Free School Meals.

34 different languages are spoken by pupils and their families.  We celebrate this diversity and value the range of cultures in our community.  We believe that children learn best through first-hand experience and work hard to promote this throughout each child's stay with us.

The school has four full-time teachers and one part-time teacher whose work is to support these groups alongside class teachers.  We also employ Special Needs Support Teachers and Assistants.

The school is five minutes walk from a mainline station, close to tube access and on bus routes.

It is a short walk to Ilford town centre and "The Exchange" Shopping Mall.
