About the School

Churchfields Junior School is situated in South Woodford in a pleasant residential area close to Epping Forest.  The school has the status of a County Junior Co-educational Day School and has 480 children on roll.  The school is designated as 4 forms of entry and is arranged in 4 year groups, each with four classes.   In-take for the school is almost entirely from the associated Infants' school.

The Junior school is accommodated in a range of adjoining buildings.  The main building dates from 1874 when the school was first built on this site.  There is a relatively modern assembly hall and gymnasium and a group of two units housing two classrooms each.  In 1998 a suite of three new classrooms was built and a fourth refurbished.  Added to this there has been an intensive programme of remodelling, improvement and redecoration including the development of a computer suite.

Outdoor resources are particularly good at Churchfields with extensive and attractive grounds and playing fields adjoining the buildings and playgrounds.

The school offers a broad and balanced curriculum.  It intends that all pupils have access to wide areas of learning and experience in order that they may develop to reach their full potential and thus prepare them to be good citizens.

The school attaches great importance to the maintenance of the highest standards of discipline, courtesy and inter-personal relationships within the life of the school and beyond.

Governors and Staff are committed to excellence and achievement in all areas of school life.
