About the school
Chadwell Primary is a successful co-educational county day
school for pupils aged 4 to 11 years.
There are three buildings on the school site to accommodate over
450 pupils, including the Nursery. There are two Victorian
buildings, and one built in the 1930s.
Adjoining the playground is a field containing a conservation
area and pond. There is an attractive garden area at the
front of the school.
We have an extension that houses a library and a Special Needs
Resource area.
We believe that children can best develop in a happy, relaxed
but purposeful working atmosphere and we aim to create this
environment to provide positive conditions for learning. The
school has a code of conduct which is supported by parents, pupils
and staff. Traditional values of respect, a sense of
community and good manners are seen as fundamental to the school
ethos. There is a school uniform.
This is a two form entry school, where teachers work closely
together as a team, planning in parallel year groups, using school
schemes of work and Policies designed to present consistent
delivery of the National Curriculum.
The school is well resourced and curriculum leaders hold a
budget and assess the needs of their subject area to ensure this is
maintained.
We value and encourage a strong home/school partnership which
helps pupils to learn. We all have an important part to play
in this. We keep parents informed, and involve them both in
school and at home to support children's learning. There is
a thriving Parent/Teacher Association.
Extra curricular activities include football, netball, art club,
choir and orchestra. There are also opportunities for
children to learn recorder, violin, viola, cello, brasswind,
woodwind and piano. Children are encouraged to take part in
extra curricular activities.
'Extended School' childcare facilities are provided through our
partnership with Chadwell Pre-School which is very local to the
school. Pre-School staff escort children to school in the
morning and collect them at the end of the school day.
