Redbridge Community Awards

Celebrating Achievement

Celebrating the continued achievements and contributions of the outstanding community of Redbridge, Suresh Kumar, Chairman, Redbridge Cultural Association (RCA) is proud to present the 6th Annual Redbridge Community Awards Nite on Saturday 13th December 2008 at the Ilford Town Hall.

Since its launch in 2000, the RCA Awards have transformed themselves into a Black-tie event with the purpose of bringing together the community of Redbridge and honoring its local citizens, whilst simultaneously raising money for charity.

The RCA was founded by Suresh Kumar, a well respected member of Redbridge and a businessman who, having recognized the unsung efforts of individuals with the Redbridge community, set up a platform with which to honour them formally. This has had the effect of encouraging, motivating and uniting the people of Redbridge with its eclectic mix of cultures.

The evening will begin with an eco-friendly green carpet reception for its host of guests and dignitaries including the Mayor of Redbridge Cllr Loraine Sladden, MPs, Celebrities, Lords, Businessmen and key members of the community. Then followed by an esteemed awards ceremony and a sumptuous three-course dinner, set against the backdrop of an array of entertainment acts to reflect the multi-faceted nature of Redbridge.

The RCA Awards present a variety of awards that range from Sports Personality of the year, Service to the Community Award, Restaurateur of the Year, Entrepreneur of the Year, all the way through to the esteemed Lifetime Achievement Award. The awards are publicized through the local press and nominations are put forward by the local community.

In previous years, the event has enjoyed the presence of celebrities ranging from Jeffrey Archer to Patti Boulaye, and has raised in excess of £100,000 for charities including Valentines Mansion Trust, Redbridge Night Shelter, Haven House, Focus Club for the Blind, Leukemia Cancer Research, Unicef, PDSA for animals and the Ilford Hospital Chapel, to name a few.

On his passionate commitment to serving the local community, and his enthusiasm for the now established RCA Awards, Suresh Kumar, Chairman says: “Being born in Redbridge and having lived in Redbridge my entire life, my roots are firmly embedded here and I will continue to do whatever it takes to encourage the wonderful sense of Unity and Community where all cultures and peoples come together in harmony across Redbridge. Across the Country, Redbridge is the glowing example of a truly multicultural society.”

“It was, and is, my aim, to pay homage to all of those Redbridge locals who take pride in this unique space that we inhabit, and who work so hard to maintain community cohesion, with a continued sense of communication, cooperation and understanding. Not only myself, but all of us involved in the RCA are extremely proud of our local community and we look forward to another hugely successful event, which we anticipate will also precede earlier years.”

As well as special guests that have been invited by the RCA, tickets for the awards ceremony are also available for public purchase, priced £50 per head.
