Area 6 is an area of Redbridge, sometimes referred to as 'South Ilford'.  Area 6 covers Loxford, Clementswood and Mayfield wards.  The area covers approximately 5 square kilometres and is mainly residential, although it also includes Ilford Town Centre.  Its boundaries are the A406 North Circular to the west, the railway line to the north, Goodmayes Lane to the east and Victoria Road, Barking Park and Longbridge Road to the south.  Area 6 is a culturally diverse neighbourhood with a large Black and Minority Ethnic community.  The area has a good range of retail and service industries providing local jobs, particularly in Ilford Town Centre.  However, unemployment and deprivation are high, especially in Loxford and Clementswood wards.

The area is densely populated with smaller, older-style accommodation to the west (Loxford and Clementswood) and more spacious, larger properties to the east (Mayfield).
