Each of these pages considers the 2001 census data by topic area at three geographical levels: Local Authority, Area Committee and Ward.

Types of Information

Housing: Information about the type of accommodation, ownership of accommodation, number of rooms, facilities available and ownership of cars. Information about managed residential care such as hospitals and care homes, details on the type of establishment and the age and type of people residing there.

Demography:  Information about the population such as age, gender, family type and household composition.

Health: Information about people's general health, disability and limiting long-term illness and the provision of unpaid care.

Labour Market: Information about economic activity, number of hours worked, number of people not working and length of time since last worked, and type and industry of employment.

Socio-Economic Status: Information on approximated social grades used by market researchers and marketing industries and socio-economic classifications based on occupation.

Ethnicity and Religion: Provides information about migration patterns religion, ethnicity and the country where people were born.

Transport: Information about residents' means of transport and distance travelled to work.

Education: Information about levels of qualifications gained, student status and student accommodation.

Indices of Deprivation: The Indices of Deprivation 2004 are measures of the lack of facilities or opportunities, for every ward and local authority area in England. They combine a number of indicators, covering a range of measures, (income, employment, health deprivation and disability, education, skills and training, housing and geographical access to services) into a single deprivation score for each area.

History of Redbridge: Information on the Redbridge area, including a history of the borough and information on famous former residents and historical buildings.
