You have until 16 April 2008 to register and apply for a postal
vote for the Mayor and London Assembly elections.
You can register to vote by downloading the registration
form (pdf 0.5Mb).

If you are unable to vote in person on the day
Vote by post
The ballot paper will be sent to you by post approximately one
week before election day.
Proxy vote
This is where you can ask someone else to vote on your behalf.
This person must be officially appointed by you and you must
complete a proxy application form.
You can arrange for a proxy vote by downloading one
or calling the helpline. Your application must be received by 5pm
on 23 April 2008.

Who can register?
You can register as an elector if you are:
- a British Citizen
- a Commonwealth Citizen
- a citizen of the Republic of Ireland or
- a citizen of another Member State of the European Union

citizens cannot vote at UK

- you are or will reach the age of 18 during the life of the
Register - a new Register is published on the 01 December each
year.
Updating the register
Details are updated annually and each household is sent a
registration form in late August. It is a legal requirement to
complete and return this form. In addition it is also possible to
register each month from early December until mid August via the
rolling registration procedure.
There are two versions of the Register of Electors : a 'full'
version and an 'edited version'.
- The full version is used for certain lawful purposes such as
elections, law enforcement and checking credit applications.
The edited version is available for general sale and can be used
for any purpose whatsoever, but you can choose not to have your
name included to this version. To do so simply tick the relevant
box on the registration form and your details will be shown on the
full version only.
