What are Regional Planning Committees?

These Committees came into effect from 1st July 2005 and were set up to determine residential planning applications only, within your area.

How can I participate?

If you wish to speak about a planning application, you must notify the Committee Support Officer, by 5pm on the working day before the day of the Regional Planning Committee meeting. The procedure for dealing with planning applications is as follows:-

  • an introduction by the Chairman
  • a maximum of three people for each application will be allowed to speak (the applicant or his/her agent and then two other speakers). Priority for these places is given to anyone objecting to the application. You will have two minutes to speak.
  • Committee to discuss the application
  • Chairman to summarise the debate
  • Committee to determine the application

Regulatory Committee

In addition to the 3 Regional Planning Committees some planning applications are dealt with by the Regulatory Committee.
