Listening to Redbridge residentsThe Council has worked to develop how it consults residents on decisions and plans that affect them, as well as using their views to help improve services:

  • Residents said safety was a top priority for the Council’s budget so extra funding was included for improvements such as better security in schools and extra CCTV cameras;
  • The new theatre in the Unity Square development will include a multi-purpose performance space, which is what people said they wanted to see;
  • There was low satisfaction with how the Public Protection service dealt with queries so we trained staff to communicate more effectively with customers.

We asked residents about priorities for the Council’s 2007/08 budget through a questionnaire in Redbridge Life. Young people were also given the opportunity to say what they thought through a series of special sessions in schools. This year you will be able to use Redbridge i to get involved interactively and tell us how the Council should spend its money and what you think about the services you use.

Residents and partner organisations were also asked what they thought of last year’s Annual Report and we have used those comments in planning this edition. To give your views on this Annual Report call 020 8708 2197 or email  performance@redbridge.gov.uk.
