Redbridge Council works with its partners in the
health service and
community and voluntary
organisations to provide care services. Their two big
priorities in the Borough are providing support for the increasing
numbers of people with care needs who want to live in their own
homes and tackling the nationwide problem of improving health and
reducing obesity.
Redbridge met its targets for promoting good
health in 2006/07, including a Borough-wide scheme to help
stop
people smoking, which had a 65% success rate, but we are
developing schemes and services to do more. You can find out more
about health services here or at
the Primary Care Trust.
We have continued to increase the numbers of
older people or people with
disabilities who can live independently by providing home-based
services or helping to adapt their homes.
Last year Adult Social Services retained its 3 star
status in its inspection – the highest award, and one of only
11 London authorities to do so. Services for
children and young people were also highly rated, with the
inspector saying “outcomes for children and young people are
good and some are outstanding.”
All services for children and young people are
now provided by the Redbridge
Children’s Trust a partnership between the Council and
the Primary Care Trust
who pooled their resources to create a £34 million budget.
Another key priority is asking people what
they think of the services they use. Look in Redbridge Life or on Redbridge i for opportunities to have your
say.
“Thanks to the wonderful
work of the whole team, his mobility and confidence in walking has
increased. Without them I believe he would have deteriorated to the
point where he was back in hospital again.”

her husband).
