The Environment, Regeneration & Community Safety Cluster is responsible for carrying out Equality Impact Assessments for the following services areas:

  • Cleansing & Direct Services
  • Community Safety
  • Highways & Engineering
  • Planning & Regeneration
  • Property Services

The Race Relations (Amendment) Act 2000 outlines a duty for public authorities to conduct Equality Impact Assessments ( EIAs ).  Similar assessments are also requirements of the Equality Standard for Local Government.

In summary, implementing EIAs enables the Authority to:

  • Determine which policies and functions are relevant to the general duties they have under the Race Relations (Amendment) Act
  • Meet the requirements of the Redbridge Equality Standard
  • Examine the impact of service delivery and planning arrangements in terms of race, disability, gender, religious belief, sexual Orientation and age
  • Identify changes required to reduce any instances of unlawful discrimination through consultation with service users, staff and stakeholders.
