This Partnership is a statutory organisation, responsible for ensuring that local agencies work together to tackle crime. Every three years the Partnership must conduct an audit of crime, disorder and substance misuse in Redbridge.

The views of local people are sought and taken into account and key issues are identified. The Partnership then has to set out proposals for tackling those issues in a “Crime, Disorder and Substance Misuse Strategy”. The current strategy covers the period 2005-2008. Its overall objective is to reduce reported crime in Redbridge by 19.4% during that time.

The Crime Reduction Group

In 2004 the Partnership brought four key teams together under unified management in the Crime Reduction Group. These teams are led by the Council’s Chief Crime Reduction Officer but many of the staff in the teams are employed by other agencies. All of the teams use a multi-agency approach so as to provide the most comprehensive services. The teams are as follows:

  • Community Safety Team, responsible for - drafting and monitoring the Crime, Disorder and Substance Misuse Strategy, analysis of crime data and leading the response to Domestic Violence and Hate Crime
  • Drugs and Alcohol Action Team - responsible for local implementation of the National Drugs Strategy and leading the response to alcohol related problems
  • Youth Crime Prevention Service - a number of teams and projects trying to stop young people getting involved in crime
  • Youth Offending Team - carries out statutory work with those young people who have become involved in crime

Each of these teams have there own pages if you wish to find out further information

Anti-Social Behaviour

The Crime Reduction Group works closely with other Council services such as the Anti-Social Behaviour Team, who tackle inconsiderate conduct that causes alarm and distress to the public.
