The Community Protection Group, which includes Trading
Standards, Licensing and Anti-social behaviour, takes action
against people committing offences in the borough where we have
been unable to resolve issues by other means In accordance with the
Public
Protection enforcement policy (PDF 161Kb).
Prosecution may be recommended where there has been a serious
breach of legislation. Discretion is used in deciding whether to
bring a prosecution. No prosecution will go ahead unless there is
sufficient evidence to provide a realistic prospect of conviction
and the prosecution would be in the public interest. Alternatively,
where legislation permits, the terms of a licence may be
reviewed.
