The responsibility for the enforcement of food law is divided between Trading Standards Officers and Environmental Health Officers. Trading Standards deals with :-

Where a potentially dangerous product is identified a Safety Warning requiring it's removal from sale in all shops may be issued.

To ensure that Food legislation is being complied with Trading Standards will:-

  • Advise trade and business
  • Conduct inspections of premises
  • Investigate complaints made by members of the public and business community.
