Licensing Act 2003

Redbridge Council Licensing Policy Statement review – consultation

restaurantUnder the Licensing Act 2003, the council  reviews its licensing policy every three years.  The current policy came into effect in January 2005.  A replacement and updated policy that shapes the future of licensing in Redbridge is now being developed.

The policy states how the council will deal with all premises that sell alcohol or hot food for eating in or takeaway after 11 pm, or provide live or recorded music and entertainment.

Before setting the council policy for the next three years, we are consulting widely.  Any relevant views are being sought from local:

  • statutory authorities
  • residents
  • businesses
  • representatives
  • licensees.

The Council has produced a draft revised Licensing Policy Statement  (PDF 563kb) that  will be open for formal consultation until 30 March 2008.  You can download the draft policy and our consultation circular letter (PDF 55kb) which gives further information.

We want to hear your views on the effectiveness of our current licensing policy.  Any suggestions you may have that lead to improvements for the next three year period are welcome.  Please use the consultation response form (PDF 94.9 kb) for your comments, which must be submitted by 30 March 2008.

The Council will consider all views received and agree its new policy at its meeting on 25 May 2008.

All comments should be forwarded to:
