To apply for a special treatments licence you must complete several forms.

  • The licence application form, list of treatments form and provide the items requested.
  • Details of person giving treatment form and declaration of convictions. Separate forms are required for every person intending to perform special treatments including the Licensee and employees.
  • Special treatments equipment register to list all electrical equipment used on the premises.
  • Application for clinical waste collection service must be completed if contaminated sharps or clinical waste is produced as part of a treatment process and you wish to use the service provided by the Council.  If you use another authorised collector proof of collection will be required. If you wish to make use of the cponcil service please complete form STR32.
  • All electrical equipment used on the premises must be listed and tested. Form STR31 should be completed for this purpose.

Applications for new licences must be advertised.

On receipt of an application, arrangements will be made for an Officer to inspect your premises. The Fire Safety Officer will also visit.  You may as a result, be required to undertake essential safety/building/electrical work.  This will be detailed in a schedule of works which will also include any requirements of the Fire Safety Officer.

The Officer allocated to you will talk you through the process and advise at the initial inspection visit. In the meantime, please do not hesitate to contact the Licensing Service should you have any queries.

As a result of the advertising of your application, members of the public, the Police or other persons may object to your application.  There is a 28 day period for this process, during which times objections may be received.

If objections are received as a result of the public consultation process your application will need to be considered by the Council Licensing Committee. This is quite a lengthy process which will be explained to you should this be necessary.
