For certain types of licence, members of the public may object to the granting, renewal or amendment of a licence.

Special provisions apply for licences granted under the Licensing Act 2003 or the Gambling Act 2005, such as Premises Licences and Club Premises Certificates. For these you should make representations. For these licences you may also be able to call for a review.

When the public may object applicants will be required to advertise their application, usually by displaying a notice outside the premises and placing an advertisement in a local newspaper.
