Applicants may appeal against decisions to refuse licences, or impose conditions, to a Magistrates' Court. The Council defends such appeals but the court rehears the evidence. Magistrates' Court decisions may be appealed to the Crown Court.

Objectors do not not generally have a right of appeal, except under the Licensing Act 2003 and the Gambling Act 2005, but may object again when the licence is renewed.

Under the Licensing Act 2003 and the Gambling Act 2005, once a licence has come into effect, if problems are experienced interested parties and responsible authorities can ask for the licence to be reviewed.
