Woodford combines the attractiveness and history of the
mid-Essex countryside with the convenience of an outer London
village. Woodford is made up of a number of interlinked
centres, Woodford Green, Woodford Bridge, Woodford Broadway,
Woodford Wells and South Woodford (who have a separate
website). The centre is predominantly made up of independent
retailers providing a wide range of wares. There is also a
growing number of high quality food and drink venues (see
'upmystreet' link below) and attractive open spaces to spend
leisure time.
Free parking is usually available and there is a regular
underground connection to Woodford on the Central Line.
Woodford Green and Bridge Business Partnership was set up in
2001 and has successfully provided annual Christmas lights and a
new promotional information board as well as a strong voice for
liaising with the Council.
Business Partnership Aims include
- Reduction in incidences of vandalism (% improvement better than
Redbridge average)
- Production of (at least 2) newsletters
- Increase in trade (5%) (through lobbying for appropriate car
parking)
- Increase in membership (10%) (including introduction of
Woodford Bridge)
- Christmas lights
Last year's successes included
- Installation of Christmas Lights / hanging baskets
- Map noticeboard promoting shops in Woodford Green
- Lobbying the Council's Planning Department regarding telephone
mast
- Liaison with Police (towards introduction of Safer
N'hoods)
