Manford Way is the primary shopping centre in Hainault, Redbridge.  It is a popular centre, particularly for local residents, providing a broad range of goods and services.  The centre includes multiples such as Woolworths, Boots, Greggs, Threshers, Lloyds Bank and Tescos as well as local outlets such as a chemist, shoe shop, café, flower shop, fruiterers and a butchers.  There is also a post office, library and a recently opened health centre in the area.  Free car parking is usually available close to the shops.

The Manford Way Business Partnership was set up in 2001 to promote businesses in Manford Way and over the years, has become increasingly successful and well supported.  Below are some of their objectives and recent successes.

Objectives

  • Reduction of crime (anti-social behaviour, theft, personal safety, graffiti)
  • Improve parking
  • Improve pedestrian environment
  • Promote Manford Way centre

Last year's successes included:

  • Helping save Post Office
  • Introduction of 'crime prevention radios'
  • Lobbying against pay and display parking
  • Working with local youngsters to improve relationships (includes supporting skateboard park, local football team etc);
  • Liaison with Council Officers re CCTV and pavement trading
  • Certification of shops for asbestos
