Responsibility for the council's housing services is divided between the council and Redbridge Homes, the Arms Length Management Organisation ( ALMO ).Family at home

The council's housing service is responsible for:

  • housing advice
  • allocation of properties
  • homelessness services
  • housing strategy
  • housing development
  • private sector housing – standards and grants

The council's payments and benefits service is responsible for:

  • housing and council tax benefit 
  • council tax
  • welfare benefits

Redbridge Homes is a not-for-profit housing organisation, owned wholly by London Borough of Redbridge. Redbridge Homes is an Arms Length Management Organisation ( ALMO ).  The ALMO   takes care of the day-to-day management and running of the Redbridge Homeshomes and provides services for tenants and leaseholders.

Redbridge Homes has responsibility for the following:

  • rent collection
  • repairs and maintenance
  • caretaking
  • cleaning
  • sheltered housing
  • tenant participation
  • tenancy management
