Business Incentive Scheme
Redbridge Council has set up a business incentive scheme as part of its commitment to support businesses to start and stay in the borough.
The scheme has been designed to support unique, innovative businesses which are new or expanding in Redbridge. Whether you are looking to take on your first premises, expanding within or into the borough, the business incentive scheme could support you by giving you access to apply for a grant that will help with you plans.
Successful applicants will receive a grant between £3,000 and a maximum of £5,000 providing the applicant meet all the of the eligibility criteria.
Eligibility criteria
- Businesses starting a new venture who have signed a two-year lease signed within the last 6 months to deliver a new and different retail offering within Redbridge (workshops, industrial and domestic assessments are not included in this scheme).
- Businesses that are expanding and taking on an additional property having signed a two-year lease agreement within the last 6 months to deliver a new and different retail offering within Redbridge (workshops, industrial and domestic assessments are not included in this scheme).
To receive the maximum award applicants must also meet the following:
- Businesses which take on a property which has been registered with Business Rates as empty for at least 2 years prior to your occupation. Additional information for verification maybe requested.
- Businesses who are registered or in the process of registering as a London Living wage employer and employ at least 1 Redbridge resident on a minimum 16-hour a week contract. Additional information for verification maybe requested.

Following your application, the assessment team will notify the applicants.

Additional information
Please note that grant applications are subject to funding and are conditional on meeting all eligibility criteria. Disputes and appeals will be heard by the Operational Director for Revenues, Benefits and Transactional Centre.
